“Don’t tell me what I’m not – tell me what I am”

Success lies in risk taking – moving on when things are bad – hanging in when things get tough –  knowing your own short fallings and working on them.

In 1993, as a single mother with a 5 year old, I had to ‘get on with it somehow’, or I would fail myself, my son, my future. I chose to see what I could be, rather than what I could not.

Denise will take you through all the histrionics of a 39 year career in picture taking – from ‘moving picture making’ in a specialist film unit to a ‘still frame career’  forged out of commitment and tenacity.

From AIPP Canon Overall Winner – Professional Photographer of the Year 1998,  Telstra WA Business Woman of the Year finalist in 2003, International Speaker British Isles 2007, regular oversees assignments, to Fuji ACMP 10 Year Retrospective – Best of Australian Photography Collection 2008.

Print Workflow

10.00am–12.00pm / Adam Monk

Seeing your hard won photographic images on a lovely bright computer screen is great, but there is nothing quite like a hard copy paper print of your masterpiece, it simply feels more substantial. The price of high quality photographic printers has come way down; they are now within reach of most keen photographers.  But you know, those printers may be affordable, and there is no doubt they can produce amazing results, but they never seem to work quite the way the salesman said they would, the print just doesn’t look like it did on the screen!  There is a whole lot of stuff that the camera shop salesman didn’t tell you, stuff that when you see it in a book or on a web page looks awfully daunting and complex.  It’s not, not when it’s explained carefully in logical steps with practical examples, and that’s exactly what we do in this printing workshop.

The workshop will explain the how and why of digital Photographic Printing while being interesting and practical.  All the right information, delivered in a clear and understandable way that won’t put you to sleep!

This course will resolve the Colour Management mystery with a clear concise explanation of what colour management is and how it actually works.  This will be followed by a practical demonstration calibrating a graphics monitor for accurate printing colours, before moving onto colour managing the image right through to the printer.

Portrait Lighting Workshop
